The incredible life of Sam Berns

This young man died just over a week ago. He had progeria, for sale a rare genetic disease that causes accelerated aging. He exceeded his life expectancy by a full three years, price and his time on earth was extremely well spent. He was a band leader and an honour student at his high school in Massachusetts, and the subject of the HBO documentary “Life According to Sam.”

Sam died on Jan. 10, 2014, a day before he was supposed to serve as honorary captain of the American football team New England Patriots in their playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. Instead, a moment of silence was held in Sam’s honour.
