Raising Money to Raise Readers

Going through the Stash

Bookworm, a library-based organization, sickness is having its annual fund raising Jumble Sale this Sunday, Feb. 9. The funds support Bookworm’s Library in Schools Program (LiS) and the Mobile Outreach Program (MOP).

The Jumble Sale was started 7 years ago. It is a massive effort and drive to involve the community who support Bookworm’s work and vision to help spread a love for reading. The Jumble Sale enables the community to recycle goods and share unwanted but useful items with others. It also helps support the good work done by a worthwhile organisation.

Bookworm presently works with 9 schools, covering 1250 children every week. The sessions include conducting library classes with read alouds, literacy and literature related teaching and learning, and book lending.  All schools are under-resourced and serve communities that would have not had access to a library program.
